Hello,

Now I can load my file without problems with fonts into PGS4 or PGS5Pro.
(downloaded and installed PagestreamFonts.lha).

The main problem still exists in both versions, and it is with the
Euro-char, after printing to Postscript-file they are suns (PGS4) or 0/00
(PGS5).

Today I have scanned the pictures for the document and tomorrow it will be
ready for sending the pdf-file to the printing factory.

Does anybody on the list know how to get the Euro-chars right, or how to
edit the Postscript-file to change the suns or promilles to the wanted
char, or editing the PDF-file? If not I have to change all occurrances of
the char into EURO (four chars instead of one).

Next catalogue I am writing in august/september, hope the problems are
solved then (if not now).

Kind regards
Anders Willför

[PageStreamAmigaBeta] Euro char

Hi Anders,

I would work with the PostScript file.

Create a VERY simple PostScript doc whose original content
was something like (working in PageStream4):

Hello
«sun symbol»
Goodbye
«sun symbol»
Anders

That all! Now examine the resulting PostScript file with
NotePad or some simple text editor. Seach for "Hello" and
when located, see if you can see how the «sun symbol» has
been translated.

Now replace the occurrences of the «sun symbol» by code for
the Euro character. Not exactly sure what that would be,
but Tim has pointed out that
Ctrl-D 08364
is the PageStream code, if the Euro character exists. Not
sure what the PageStream code is for the «sun symbol» but
check out the form
Ctrl-D «numeric code»
just in case that is what shows up in the PostScript file.

Of course, you must be using one of the Bitstream,
DejaVu,.... fonts that support the Euro character.

With the changes above, does the resulting printout contain
the Euro character or not?

If it does, then go to the original PostScript file and
replace those four occurrences of the «sun symbol» by the
code for the Euro symbol.

I've never done the above, so I'm just guessing.

As near as I can tell PgS is managing to encode the font without the euro
character. I'm not sure why that is, but I started playing with the
postscript output and made it print every character in the embedded font and
either I'm blind or the euro character wasn't there.

I never ran across this previously as the euro is a character I simply haven't
needed.

Do you have TextFX or the Pro version? If you do then type the euro character
as a single character in a frameless text object at the point size you want.
Then duplicate, cut (object tool), paste (text tool) in the text frame where
you want it. At the moment I can't think of any better solution.

It *should* be a fairly simple matter of fixing the encoding of the font
embedding. Of course, I'm not Deron so take that with a grain of salt.
